How to Transition Your Fall Wardrobe into Winter

Is it just me, or does it feel like November has completely crept up on us? It seems like just yesterday when we were refreshing our fall wardrobe with this year’s trends, and now it seems like winter is headed for us like a speeding bulldozer. Fortunately, the arrival of winter doesn’t mean we need to give our closets a complete overhaul. We’ve got a truckload of new arrivals at Tsuga Boutique that are perfect for wrapping your fall fashions in winter whimsy!

Warmer Accessories

If there’s anything you should think about replacing now, it’s your scarves. You might be able to squeeze a few more weeks out of your delicate pashminas, but once the Christmas lights are out, it’ll be time for something a little more heavy-duty. This gorgeous plaid scarf makes any outfit look more expensive, and its neutral colours go perfectly with just about any outfit.

Speaking of keeping your face warm, we’ve started to evolve how we think about reusable masks from a necessary life-saving device to a bonafide fashion accessory. Not to mention their fabulous-yet-unsung bonus feature: they keep your face warm! Try adding a few cute ones with wintery prints to your collection; they’ll keep your nose and lips toasty while spreading the festive spirit to everyone you pass by.

It’s also the perfect time to add a toque to your look, and this year’s styles are all about the pompom. These cute ones have great material and look stylish with any winter parka. If you have a teenage daughter, better get two—as she’ll almost definitely steal one of them.

Finally, it just ain’t winter without a new pair of big, thick socks. Let’s face it; we’re spending most of our time at home anyway, so we might as well invest in the warmest, softest, coziest socks we can find. We currently carry a fun assortment of options, each of which will add a little joy to your day as soon as you slip them on!

Long-Sleeved Tops

While we can often get away with layering t-shirts under our fall sweaters, long-sleeved tops don’t get as much credit as they should. Long-sleeved tops are flattering on all body types and look great as a layering piece or on their own with the skirts and pants you wore this fall. Even a basic, solid-coloured long-sleeve looks just a little more polished than the average short-sleeved top, especially in the winter months. By adding at least one neutral long-sleeve (like white or grey) and one brighter colour will give you unlimited options for putting together easy, comfortable outfits this season.

Play with Bolder Blues

This is the best season to wear our favourite colour—royal blue! Royal blue is the perfect bright for winter; it’s bold enough to get noticed, formal enough for special occasions, and somehow still relaxed enough for everyday wear. It also looks great on just about every skin tone because it’s a warm blue. If you love wearing colours, you can dive-in with a statement piece like this fabulous sweater by Habitat. If you’re a little shy of brights, dip your toe in with this classy tailored blouse in black, white, and royal blue plaid.

Protect Your Neck

As the days get shorter, the necklines are getting higher—that means it’s turtleneck and mockneck season! It’s so easy to rock these forever-classic necklines; just look how great this colourful mockneck by Tribal looks with last season’s denim jacket! Funky, eclectic knits are also a hit for winter 2020, so don’t be shy to try something a little unique like this delightfully off-beat number.
