We’ve had another successful year here at Royal City Nursery, and once again, we want to thank all of you for your continued support and loyalty in 2023. This past year has been about returning to our company roots, enjoying the space to grow, and giving back to the Guelph community for always being such a big part of our story.
When I look back on 2023, I see a year of firsts and the culmination of a few dreams. We are so fortunate to be able to expand the business, and the first time we walked through the door of the new building is not something I will soon forget.
This season, we had the opportunity to open a permanent four-season building and were thrilled to invite all of you in! The first time you, our customers, walked through the front door to a new shopping experience with heat and A/C at the ready was breathtaking.
This year has been a flourishing success, and we’re thrilled to be in our third year of perennial production at Royal City Nursery. Thanks to our new greenhouses, we’re growing like never before. This means so much to me and the team and was the way my family started the business so many years ago.
Our team has worked so passionately this past year to see that you get only the best blooms for all of your projects, and the community has certainly shown us their support by trusting us to grow and provide only the highest quality plants in Guelph. We have also loved hearing your stories of planting successes and how you have found passion and love for the garden in your own ways.
We’re so proud to be a part of that!
From workshops to seminars to growing, we are not only proud of our roots, we are excited for our future! 2024 sees more opportunities ahead – perennials, herbs, and even some shrubs! We are proud to return to the roots of the business my grandfather started so long ago.
We are honoured to be part of the Guelph, Cambridge and KW communities; if it were not for the community support, we, as a company, would not be here. It takes a village to support each other, and that is what we endeavour to do through things like our gift of Giving Ornament, silent auction items, and event involvement within the community.
We are thankful for the opportunity to teach, support, and learn with our customers, staff, and families. We also support our staff education by sponsoring them in the provincial Horticulture Apprenticeship programs.
One of our passions at Royal City Nursery is helping clients transform their landscapes with our top-notch design and maintenance services. We love making Guelph beautiful, from rock and water gardens to outdoor entertaining spaces!
This year, we’ve enjoyed emphasizing personal stories for our clients through their landscapes. At my core, I am a designer. I design spaces with and for people and love watching people move through and experience a space. If you have yet to meet Dave, you really should; my husband, Dave, is the only person who understands an outdoor space better than I do.
Together, we share a philosophy that your outdoor space needs to be intricately connected to your indoor space through views, textures, and, of course, plants! Dave is an avid water garden enthusiast and loves evening landscapes (more lights, anyone!). It is our mission to ensure that every landscape Royal City Nursery designs carries the client’s personality so your outdoors can become as much of an oasis as the indoor space.
Creating outdoor sanctuaries that reflect the personality and lifestyle of our clients will remain the foundation of Royal City Nursery’s landscape design philosophy going into 2024.
Our ‘Winter Wonderland’ was such a blast this year and we loved hearing your feedback on how wonderful Royal City Nursery looked. We also enjoyed helping Guelph get festive with fresh-cut trees, wreaths, and evergreens—and all of our holiday workshops were a huge success. The kids enjoyed the reindeer planter workshop this season as much as we did, and it was a great way to kickstart the holidays. Look for more awesome events and hands-on activities in the months to come at the garden centre—we have a full year of exciting new adventures in horticulture that we would love to share with you.
We would also like to say a special thank you to everyone who participated in our Gift of Giving Ornament fundraiser for the Guelph Food Bank. To date, we have donated over $7000 to the Guelph Food Bank from these ornament purchases and your community spirit kept shining bright this year.
We want to express our deepest gratitude to our loyal customers and gardening enthusiasts in Guelph. Your support and enthusiasm have fueled our passion for greenery, sustainability, and community.
