Royal City Nursery has grown quite a bit since its humble beginnings but we have never lost sight of the vision behind our company sharing the love of growing and cultivating and helping our customers experience the joy that comes from creating unique living spaces.

My Grandparents purchased the original property and built the cedar log Lathe (Shade) House, which served as the retail area. A new store was built on the site in 1977, where Royal City Nursery sold mainly trees, shrubs, soil, and fertilizer.

In 1986, my parents, Peter Olsen and Doreen, joined the partnership, expanding the garden centre and created Royal City Nursery’s first Christmas Wonderland. I joined my parents full time in the 90’s. The nursery continued to offer beautiful outdoor living space design, and products for growing and cultivating plus quality nursery stock, seeds and bulbs. The business has now grown to include water features, garden and lawn maintenance, and an exclusive fashion boutique.

In 2015 I became the third generation owner of Royal City Nursery. This same year we purchased the property where we are now located. We have a large outdoor sales yard and have built the garden centre of our dreams – a 6000 square foot greenhouse – on 5.5 acres of land on Highway 24, located between Guelph and Cambridge.

My Husband Dave joined us full-time at the new location. With over 30 years in the horticulture and landscape industries, Dave is now able to offer his talents in combination with the rest of the team.

We offer our customers superior quality plants, elegant garden pieces custom planters, and landscape design & installation services. Our friendly, knowledgeable staff is always here to give advice or help you find the right solutions and inspiration for your outdoor spaces.
